Once upon a time...like many modern romances, ours began with a little help from technology… and a lot of help from a GPS error. We met on a dating app, only to discover that while we connected over shared interests, we somehow forgot to set our locations properly. Elena was in Putney, Vermont, and Brendan was in Wakefield, Massachusetts—a cozy 2.5 hours apart. Long-distance romance wasn’t in the plan, but fate (or bad app design) had other ideas!

Despite the miles between us, our connection was immediate and strong. We bonded over our love for dogs (hello, Maeby and Linguini), endured the highs and lows of pandemic life, and proved that a little distance was no match for our growing love.

When the time came for Elena to move back to Chicago to be closer to family, Brendan made the ultimate decision—to pack up his life and join her in the Windy City. And so, armed with caffeine, snacks, and two pups who weren't exactly thrilled about a 20+ hour road trip, we hit the highway, moving all our stuff and our love across state lines. What’s a cross-country move for love, right?

Chicago quickly became home. We explored every corner of the city, from hidden gem restaurants to the iconic Field Museum, where we had our very first Chicago date. Fast forward to April 20, 2024: a day that started with us geeking out over the Blood Suckers exhibit (because, well, we’re a bit quirky like that) and ended with Brendan proposing in a moment that was equal parts romantic, morbid, and very, very us.

But not all journeys have been easy. We sadly had to say goodbye to our beloved Linguini, a loss that was particularly difficult for Elena. Through every step of Linguini’s illness, surgery, therapy, and ultimate passing, Brendan was a rock, helping Elena process the grief and reminding us both of the strength of our partnership.

Now, with four years of love, laughter, and adventure behind us, we are ready to write the next chapter of our fairytale. Surrounded by family and friends, we'll come together to celebrate the love that has carried us through every twist and turn of our journey.
